Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation surgery is one of the surgeries that brings the most happiness to patients. Performed for many years, this surgery has become easier over the past decade with implants that can last a lifetime, shorter surgery times, and faster recovery periods.

In our clinic, before the surgery, you will also be able to see how the size will look with special trial implants.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

In addition to general precautions, we ask all our patients for a breast ultrasound before the breast augmentation surgery. It is important to have this taken within 6 months before the surgery.

You will be called for at least two consultations before the surgery, where you can decide on the size and shape of the implant using our special trial implants and see how it will look on your body. All body measurements will be recorded, and the best-suited sizes will be presented. The technique and implant shape will be mutually agreed upon during the consultation.

Breast augmentation surgery is performed under general anesthesia and typically lasts around 1 hour. You will be able to stand up and attend to your basic needs within 2-4 hours after the surgery. We recommend wearing a special post-surgery bra for the first 6 weeks.

Pain after breast augmentation surgery used to be a big concern, but new techniques, careful procedures, and special block anesthesia during surgery have made postoperative pain much more manageable. Of course, you will need to give yourself some time to adjust to the implants.

Generally, we prefer the incision to be under the breast fold, around 3-5 cm. It will be slightly noticeable in the first 3-6 months but will fade over time. However, scars vary from person to person depending on genetic factors and external elements. We support the process with scar-preventing creams and, if necessary, laser treatments.

After your first check-up the day after surgery, you will be discharged with a special bra to wear for 6 weeks. You can shower the same day and return to your social life cautiously. The implants will feel large at first due to swelling, but this is normal. They will settle after about 3 months and feel natural.

In the early stages, swelling, bruising, mild asymmetry, and numbness in the nipple area can occur. We recommend avoiding intense physical activity for the first 3 weeks and chest exercises for the first 6 weeks.

Breastfeeding is not affected as long as no intervention is made to the milk glands or ducts. However, patients needing augmentation often have little breast tissue, which could affect breastfeeding.

New generation implants are lifelong. Manufacturers provide certain guarantees for the first 10 years, but as long as no changes are desired, they are permanent.

Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammaplasty)

Breast reduction surgery is one of the most frequently performed aesthetic procedures in our country. Large or even giant breasts pose a significant social problem for women, affecting their posture, hygiene, and causing discomfort due to the weight they place on the spine. It is one of the most rewarding surgeries both aesthetically and functionally.

The ideal breast size is determined based on the patient's preferences and body characteristics.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

This issue is usually structural but can also occur due to rapid weight gain and loss or post-pregnancy. It is suitable for patients of all ages experiencing these issues. Large breasts relative to the body can cause serious back pain, skin irritation, and negatively impact social activities like running and walking. This surgery enhances self-confidence, improves quality of life, and promotes better health.

In breast reduction surgery, we generally prefer techniques that leave an inverted T-shaped scar around the areola and extending downwards. These scars are more prominent in the first 6-12 months but fade over time after the 12th month. The key point here is whether the patient prefers to accept the scars in exchange for achieving comfortable and ideal breast form, or to avoid the scars but remain dissatisfied with the breast shape. Special creams and silicone strips are used during the first 12 months to minimize scarring. It is important to remember that scar formation varies from person to person due to individual genetic factors, healing rates, and external influences (such as smoking and sun exposure).

In addition to general surgical precautions, it is recommended that all patients under 35 have a breast ultrasound, and those over 35 have both an ultrasound and a mammogram. Since smoking directly affects circulation to the nipple, this surgery is not recommended for smokers unless they abstain from smoking for at least 6 weeks prior to surgery. Reducing sugar intake before surgery can positively impact healing.

After the breast reduction surgery, we keep you under observation in the hospital for one night. Controlled walking can begin about 4 hours post-surgery. You will be discharged the next morning after a bandage change. Some mild pain related to movement may occur during the first 3-5 days. Bruising, swelling, and slight bleeding from the wound sites are normal during the initial days. We recommend wearing a special medical bra for the first 4 weeks and a sports bra for the first 6 months. It is important to avoid activities that raise blood pressure during the first 4 weeks.

After breast reduction surgery, each breast adapts to its new form independently, and full recovery is typically achieved within 6-12 months. Asymmetry is common in the early stages. The nipples also adapt at different rates due to hormonal factors. Nipple sensitivity may temporarily decrease depending on the technique used and individual anatomy, though permanent loss of sensitivity is rare. Post-surgery, regular bandage changes, a protein-rich diet low in sugar and salt, and absolutely avoiding smoking are crucial for healing. Avoid lifting heavy objects and excessive arm movements, especially in the first month.

Depending on the technique used, it is generally believed that breast reduction surgery may decrease the capacity for milk production. Since the position of the nipple is changed during surgery, the milk ducts may be affected.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

After childbirth and breastfeeding, or sometimes due to genetic factors and rapid weight gain/loss, breasts may not have the form you desire. If there is sufficient breast tissue, your own tissues can be reshaped. If the tissues are insufficient, a breast lift with implant support can be performed. A breast lift requires detailed planning and involves reducing the skin and tightening the breast tissue.

While there are many advantages, some disadvantages also exist.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

In a breast lift, excess skin is removed, the nipple is repositioned to its new location using specially selected techniques, and the tissues are reshaped. If the tissues are insufficient, implants are used for support. It is one of the surgeries that requires the most careful planning.

In addition to general precautions, a breast ultrasound may be requested if necessary.

After surgery, you will be kept under observation in the hospital for 1 night. Wounds will be followed up with simple dressings for the first 10 days. Special bras are recommended for the first 3 months, and sports bras for the first 6 months. The stitches dissolve on their own, so removal is not necessary. Activity can be resumed by the 3rd week, and all chest exercises can be done after the 6th week. Early swelling, bruising, and numbness in the nipple area are normal. It is important to remember that both breasts heal independently, and perfect symmetry is not guaranteed.

It is impossible to have a breast lift without leaving scars. Scars will remain around the nipple and extend downwards in an inverted T shape. The size of the T-shaped scar may vary depending on the degree of sagging. These scars will be more noticeable in the first 3-6 months and will gradually fade over time. If desired, nipple pigmentation can be used to make the scar less noticeable. Scarring varies from person to person depending on factors such as tissue quality, implant size, genetics, and external factors (smoking, sun exposure). Special creams and silicone strips can be used to reduce scarring.

Is the result permanent? After breast lift surgeries, slight sagging over time and due to gravity is inevitable. Using excessively large implants can accelerate this process. If the skin has high elasticity, sagging will be more pronounced. Despite this, the breast will still look better and more natural than before.

Breast lift surgeries typically do not affect breastfeeding, as the milk ducts are usually preserved during the procedure. However, in some cases, especially if a significant reduction in breast tissue is needed, it may impact the ability to breastfeed. Each case varies depending on the technique used and the individual's anatomy.

The initial recovery from a breast lift surgery typically takes around 2 to 3 weeks, during which time patients should avoid strenuous activities and exercise. Most swelling and bruising subside after the first few weeks, but full recovery, including the final settling of the breasts and scars, can take up to 6 months to a year.

Post-surgery, it is essential to follow the surgeon's instructions carefully, including wearing a special supportive bra for several weeks, avoiding heavy lifting, and refraining from smoking and sun exposure to reduce scarring. Regular follow-ups are also important to monitor healing.

The results of a breast lift surgery can last for many years, but they are not completely permanent. Factors such as aging, gravity, and weight fluctuations can cause the breasts to sag again over time. Maintaining a stable weight and following healthy lifestyle habits can help prolong the results.

Yes, breast lift surgery can be combined with other procedures such as breast augmentation or breast reduction, depending on the patient's needs and goals. A thorough consultation with the surgeon will determine the best approach.
